Technology of slit animation and linear zoetrope

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá historii a principy techniky slit animace, lineárního zoetropu. Ve své práci se pokouším hledat rozdíly jednotlivých etap vývoje technik, vymezit je a zmapovat jejich význam pro techniky slit animace a lineárního zoetropu. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí věnujících se slit animaci a lineárnímu zoetropu. První část se zabývá historií technik od raných počátků až po současné tvůrce. Ve druhé části vysvětluji jednotlivé principy obou technik a porovnávám vliv jednotlivých historických období na technologický vývoj slit animace a lineárního zoetropu. Třetí část prezentuje můj praktický výstup navazující na předešlé kapitoly.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the history and principles of slit animation and linear zoetrope techniques. In my thesis I try to find the differences of each of their historical periods. I try to define them and record their development and significance for both techniques. The thesis is divided into three parts dedicated to slit animation and the linear zoetrope. First part dulges into the history of both techniques, from the early beginnings to the contemporary authors. I try to describe the principles of both techniques and evaluate the impact of each historical period on the technological development of slit animation and linear zoetrope in the second part. The third part presents my practical work that follows up on the previous chapters.
