Motivation in the context of tertiary language didactics

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the motivation of learning German from the perspective of tertiary didactics of another foreign language, which is designed as a targeted support for multilingual competence. The first part presents the theoretical foundations in which the topic is conceptualised in terms of selected aspects such as multilingualism, the development of multilingualism in the European Union, concepts of multilingualism and its connection to the German language. Furthermore, in the theoretical part I look at German as a second foreign language (L3) after English (L2) in the context of language education in Czech schools and I deal with motivation of learning it. In the second part, the results of a research investigation are presented. They explore whether and to what extent German, primary school textbooks grasp the didactic principles of teaching another foreign language. Furthermore, the thesis investigates how pupils perceive knowledge of multiple languages and how they perceive the knowledge of English as a facilitating aspect in learning German.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá motivací učení se německému jazyku z hlediska terciární didaktiky dalšího cizího jazyka z hlediska didaktiky dalšího cizího jazyka, která je koncipována ve smyslu cílené podpory vícejazyčné kompetence. V první části jsou představena teoretická východiska, v nichž je dané téma konceptualizováno z hlediska vybraných aspektů jako je vícejazyčnost, rozvoj vícejazyčnosti v Evropské unii, koncepty vícejazyčnosti a její napojení na německý jazyk. Dále se v teoretické části zabývám němčinou jako druhým cizím jazykem (L3) po angličtině (L2) v kontextu jazykového vzdělávání na české škole a motivací k jejímu učení. Ve druhé části jsou představeny výsledky výzkumného šetření, které zjišťovalo, zda a do jaké míry jsou didaktické principy výuky dalšího cizího jazyka uchopeny v učebnici němčiny, kterou používáme při vyučování na základní škole. Dále práce zkoumá, jak žáci vnímají znalost více jazyků a znalost angličtiny jako facilitujícího aspektu při učení se němčině.
