Strategic Corporate Philanthropy in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem disertační práce je zhodnotit koncept strategické filantropie soukromých firem v České republice s ohledem na hlavní směry výzkumu identifikované v zahraničních studiích firemní filantropie. Splnění tohoto výzkumného cíle umožňuje učinit nové závěry o specifikách strategické filantropie v prostředí České republiky, rozdílech mezi strategickou filantropií a filantropickou strategií, které obě představují strategický přístup k firemní filantropii, a lépe pochopit strategický motiv firemní filantropie. Empirická fáze je rozdělená do tří částí dle hlavních směrů výzkumu. Nejprve definuje model strategického přístupu k firemní filantropii, následně identifikuje determinanty tohoto strategického přístupu a zkoumá jeho vliv na finanční výkonnost firmy. Práce komplexně pokrývá koncept strategické filantropie.

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis aims to evaluate the concept of strategic philanthropy of private companies in the Czech Republic by addressing the main directions of research identified in foreign studies of corporate philanthropy. Fulfilling this research goal enables to draw new conclusions about the specifics of strategic philanthropy in the Czech Republic, the differences between strategic philanthropy and philanthropic strategy, both of which represent a strategic approach to corporate philanthropy, and better understand the strategic motive of corporate philanthropy. The empirical phase is divided into three parts according to the main directions of research. It defines a model of strategic approach to corporate philanthropy, then identifies the determinants of this strategic approach and examines its impact on financial performance. The thesis comprehensively covers the concept of strategic philanthropy.
