Specifics of the economic exchange exposure in the Czech economy on a case study of a Czech export company

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je prozkoumat specifika ekonomické devizové expozice s využitím případové studie české exportní firmy, konktrétně společnosti PETROF, spol.s.r.o., zabývající se výrobou klavírů a pianin, které následně exportuje na zahraniční trhy. Mezi dílčí cíle diplomové práce patří navržení vhodné dlouhodobější strategie řízení ekonomické devizové expozice pro výše zmíněnou společnost, a dále potom zhodnocení závěrů případové studie. Tato diplomová práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, praktické a teoretické. V teoretické části jsou vysvětlena a přiblížena teoretická východiska týkající se kurzového rizika a konceptu devizové expozice včetně stěžejního tématu této práce – ekonomické devizové expozice. V praktické části bude nejdříve popsán konkrétní český podnik, který bude předmětem další analýzy, následně provedena finanční analýza, rozbor tržeb a nákladů, hlavních měnových párů, a demonstrace možnosti měření ekonomické expozice. Na závěr budou na základě provedených analýz navržena opatření vedoucí ke snížení ekonomické expozice pro zkoumanou společnost a provedeno zhodnocení dané případové studie.

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis is to analyze the specifics of the economic exposure using the case study of a Czech export company, specifically PETROF, which manufactures pianos which then exports to foreign markets. The partial goals of the thesis include the design of a long-term strategy for managing the economic exchange exposure for the above-mentioned company and then evaluating the conclusions of the case study. This thesis is divided into two parts, practical and theoretical. The theoretical part explains and describes the theoretical bases concerning the exchange rate risk and the concept of foreign exchange exposure, including the central theme of this thesis - the economic exchange exposure. The practical part will first describe a particular Czech company, which will be the subject of further analysis, then the financial analysis will be conducted following with analysis of sales and costs, major currency pairs, and demonstration of the possibility of measuring economic exposure. Finally, based on the previous analyses, measures to reduce the economic exposure for the company will be proposed and evaluation of the case study will be performed.
