Strategic analysis of Union Pacific Railroad

Anotace:

The main purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is to analyse the operation and strategy of the Union Pacific Railroad in the United States with recommendations for upper management. The primary goal of the author for this work is to use both Macro and Microenvironment analyzation of financial data, to better understand the company’s strategy and its position in the market compared to Union Pacific Railroad’s main competitors. The primary focus of any strategic analyses is the right choice of competitors, since Union Pacific operates in the transportation industry within the United States, to better understand the challenges faced by Union Pacific Railroad only companies with similar routes will be selected for comparison. When all requirements are done, the author will provide recommendations for Union Pacific Railroad management.
