Transforming the Media Image of Seniors

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá proměny mediálního obrazu seniorů ve vybraných časových úsecích. Cílem bylo zjistit, jak se mění prezentace seniorů v českých médiích na přelomu 20. a 21.století a v době celosvětové pandemie Covid-19. V teoretické části je vymezen pojem senior a nejčastější stereotypy spojované se seniory. Dále se pak charakterizují média a působení médií na společnost. V neposlední řadě je věnována jedna kapitola popisu zmiňovaným časovým úsekům. Vyhodnocení probíhalo na základě dotazníkového šetření. Porovnání zjištěných dat a zodpovězení výzkumných otázek přineslo možnost interpretace dat vzhledem k soudobým souvislostem. Výzkumná část práce obsahuje popis zjištěných témat. Samotné výsledky nám potvrdily, že existují rozdíly ve vnímání mediálního obrazu seniorů v různých časových etapách.

Abstract:

The thesis examines the changes in the senior media image in particular time periods. Its objective is to learn the changing media presentation of Czech seniors at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries and during the global Covid-19 pandemic. The theoretical part identifies the concept of senior and the most common senior associated stereotypes. Likewise, the media and their influence on society are also described. Last but not least, there is a chapter devoted to the mentioned particular time periods. The evaluation of the thesis findings was based on a questionnaire survey. The comparison of the obtained data and response to the research questions brought the possibility of interpretation of the thesis finding to the present context. The research part of the thesis contains a description of the identified topics.
