Abstract:
This master´s thesis deals with literary bestseller of Swiss author Corinne Hofmann, who wrote a story The White Masai based on her own experiences on the African continent. The goal of this thesis is to define to what level is this work autobiographical. I deal with the autobiography itself, its definition, history and its readers too.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá literárním bestsellerem švýcarské autorky Corinne Hofmannové, která napsala na základě svých vlastních prožitků na africkém kontinentu příběh Bílá Masajka (Die weiße Massai). Záměrem této práce je určit, do jaké míry je toto dílo autobiografické. Věnuji se zde tedy obecně i autobiografii, její definici, historii a jejím čtenářům.
