Deportation of North Caucasian peoples in the Soviet Union during World War II

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou deportací severokavkazských národů v průběhu 2. světové války. V teoretické části se zabývá vymezením znaků totalitních režimů, mezi nimi problematikou masových deportací jako jednou z forem represí. V následující kapitole popisuje samotné plánování a provedení deportací Karačajců, Čečenů, Ingušů a Balkarů. Dále je zde popsán zánik národních autonomních celků a snaha režimu o obnovu života v opuštěných oblastech. Ve třetí kapitole je rozebráno období ve vyhnanství, problémy se kterými se museli deportovaní potýkat, stejně jako chování úřadů a místního obyvatelstva. Poslední kapitola pojednává o problematice návratu deportovaných národů, překážkách které je čekaly, soužití s obyvateli jiných národností, stejně jako přístup úřadů při jejich zapojování zpět do společnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis looks into issue of the deportations of the peoples of the North Caucasus during the Second World War. The theoretical part deals with characteristics of totalitarian regimes, among them the issue of mass deportation as a form of repressions. The next chapter describes the actual planning and execution of the deportation Karachay, Chechens, Ingushes, and Balkars. Dissolution of national autonomous units and efforst to restore deserted arease are also decribed. The third chapter discusses the period in exile, the problems that the deportees had to face, as well as the behavior of the authorities and the local population. The last chapter deals with the issue of the return of deported peoples, obstacles they were struggling, coexistence with residents of other nationalities, and last but not least, as well as the aproach of the authorities during proces of incorporating of the deportees back to society.
