Interaction of selected amino acids and titanium dioxide

Abstract:

Nanočástice a nanotechnologie mají v dnešní době nezastupitelné a široké využití napříč všemi odvětvími průmyslu. Jednou z nejpoužívanějších nanočástic je oxid titaničitý (krystalické formy anatas a rutil), který je také hlavním produktem zpracování titanové rudy. Nicméně, široké využití oxidu titaničitého (a celkově nanočástic), čím dál více vyvolává otázky ohledně jejich toxicity pro lidský organismus. Tento vliv v tak vysokých koncentracích, se kterými se v dnešní době můžeme setkávat denně, ještě nebyl dostatečně prostudován, ale už z prvních výsledků je patrné, že jejich vliv na lidský organismus nebude zanedbatelný. Tato práce se zabývá studiem interakcí nanočástice oxidu titaničitého s vybranými aminokyselinami (glycin, tryptofan, tyrosin, kyselina asparagová a arginin), které jsou nejen základními stavebními jednotkami všech proteinů, ale také důležitými prekurzory mnoha biologicky aktivních látek ovlivňujících většinu biologických pochodů v lidském organismu.

Abstract:

Nanoparticles and nanotechnology are nowadays indispensable and widely used across all industries. One of the most widely used nanoparticles is titanium dioxide (crystalline forms of anatase and rutile), which is also the main product of titanium ore processing. However, the widespread use of titanium dioxide (and nanoparticles in general) has increasingly raised questions about their toxicity to humans. This effect at the high concentrations that can be encountered on a daily basis today, has not been sufficiently studied yet, but the first results show that their effect on the human body will not be insignificant. This thesis is focused on the study of interactions of titanium dioxide nanoparticles with selected amino acids (glycine, tryptophan, tyrosine, aspartic acid and arginine), which are not only the basic building units of all proteins, but also important precursors of many biologically active substances affecting most biological processes in the human body.
