Conjunktion and particle ,,Ať" and its equivalents in German

Abstract:

In my Bachelor Thesis, I focused on the issue of the word ať which, in regard to parts of speech criteria, can function as a particle or as a conjunction. After theoretical introduction based on the Czech and German grammars I searched for its occurrence in random form of 500 examples in InterCorp of the Czech national corpus in its natural environment (in a sentence). In these examples I also monitored whether the word ať performs the function of a conjunction or of a particle, and then I assigned a German equivalent according to the German parallel text. Both in Czech sentences and in German texts I monitored the verbal form and the verbal tense, which play an important role with German equivalents. Based on the corpus analysis, I worked out the practical part, which includes numerical and percentage values of the results, shown using diagrams and graphical representations. The aim of this thesis was to provide relevant information about the results based on the corpus analysis, and answer the question, whether the word ať in a sentence functions more often as a conjunction or as a particle. In case of conjunction I monitored incidence of reference, i.e. concessive or objective, and ultimately the number and naming of German equivalents.

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zaobírám problematikou slovního druhu ať jako částice a spojky, kdy po teoretickém seznámení se v českých a německých mluvnicích vyhledávám jeho výskyt v náhodném vzorci 500 příkladů v InterCorpu českého národního korpusu v jeho přirozeném prostředí (ve větě). U těchto vzorků dále sleduji, zda ať plní funkci spojky nebo částice, ke kterým následně na základě německého paralelního textu přiřazuji německý ekvivalent. Jak u českých vět, tak u německých textů sleduji dále způsob a slovesný čas, který sehrává velkou roli právě u německých ekvivalentů. Na základě korpusové analýzy je vypracována praktická část, kde jsou za pomocí diagramů a grafického znázornění zobrazeny číselné a procentuální hodnoty zkoumaných výsledků. Moje práce má za cíl podat informace o výsledcích plynoucích z korpusové analýzy, jestli se ať vyskytuje ve větě častěji jako spojka nebo částice, v případě spojky, který ze vztahů má větší výskyt, zda přípustka nebo účel a nakonec určit počet a pojmenování německých ekvivalentů.
