Fantasy characters in the Fantastic. Tradition and innovation in "La Vampire" by Paul Féval and "Hastrman" by Miloš Urban

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the comparative analysis of fantastic figures of novels La Vampire (1865) by French author Paul Féval and Hastrman (2001) by Czech author Miloš Urban. The first part introduces the beginning of fantastic literature, problems of definition of the genre fantastic and the fantastic figure inspired by tradition. The analytical part deals with the definition of fantastic figure, the influence of figure to reader, the meaning of figure’s strangeness and functions of fantastic figures between tradition and innovation.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá komparativní analýzou fantastických postav mezi tradicí a inovací v románech La Vampire (1865) od francouzského autora Paula Févala a Hastrman (2001) od českého autora Miloše Urbana. V první části jsou představené počátky fantastické literatury, problematika definice fantastického žánru a fantastická postava inspirovaná tradicí. Analytická část práce zkoumá definici fantastické postavy, vliv postavy na čtenáře, význam zvláštnosti postav a funkce fantastické postavy mezi tradicí a inovací.
