Montessori Pedagogy - application options at the 1st stage of primary education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá Montessori pedagogikou a možnostmi její aplikace na prvním stupni základních škol. Cílem práce je zjistit, které principy a pomůcky Montessori pedagogiky lze aplikovat i na standardních základních školách a zda by je pedagogové ve výuce chtěli využívat. Teoretická část práce je zaměřená na hlavní teoretická východiska související s reformní pedagogikou a alternativním školstvím. Dále je v této části práce pojednáváno o vývoji a filozofii Montessori pedagogiky včetně specifikace základních principů a didaktického materiálu této pedagogické koncepce. Ve výzkumné části jsou zpracována data nasbíraná prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření a hloubkových rozhovorů s pedagogy. V dotazníkovém šetření bylo zjištěno, že by velká část pedagogů standardních základních škol s aplikací prvků Montessori pedagogiky do výuky souhlasila. Pedagogové se vzděláním v oblasti Montessori pedagogiky navrhli konkrétní Montessori principy a didaktické pomůcky, které lze ve standardních školách aplikovat. Výsledky výzkumu mohou být inspirací pro pedagogy, kteří by prvky Montessori pedagogiky chtěli ve výuce využívat.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with Montessori pedagogy and how it can be applied at the first stage of primary schools. The aim of the work is to find out what specific principles and learning tools of Montessori pedagogy can be applied in standard primary schools and whether teachers would like to use them in their classes. The theoretical part of the work is focused on the main theoretical background related to reform pedagogy and alternative education. Furthermore, this part of the thesis deals with the development and philosophy of Montessori pedagogy including the specification of the basic principles and didactic material of this pedagogical concept. The practical part works with data collected through a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews with teachers. It was found from the data that a large number of teachers from standard primary schools would agree with the application of elements of Montessori pedagogy in teaching. Teachers with Montessori education proposed certain Montessori principles and learning tools that can be applied in standard schools. The results of the research can be an inspiration for educators who would like to use elements of Montessori pedagogy in teaching.
