Rehabilitation of an elderly subject after total hip arthroplasty: case report

Abstract:

The hip joint also called the coxo-femoral joint, joins the head of the femur with the acetabole pit of the pelvis. As such it is not only maintained musculatureally but is held firmly by a bone and ligament guide. The bone guide is made because of the contact between the head of the femur and the deep acetabola pit equipped with the glenoid lip that increases its contact surface, through a fairly robust ligament apparatus, represented by ligaments ileofemorale, pubophhemoral, ischiofemoral and the orbicular zone. The main reasons for hip replacement are hip osteoarthritis, characterized by a progressive loss of joint cartilage with a reduced and painful joint space, and necrosis of the femoral head, a disease that causes the death of the Bone. Pain is usually the symptom of onset, often referred to the groin but irradiation to the anterior surface of the thigh is common. In the absence of specific causes, laboratory investigations such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-rays (RX) are continued, where they show characteristic elements based on the stage of the disease.

Abstract:

L'articolazione dell'anca detta anche articolazione coxo-femorale, mette in giunzione la testa del femore con la fossa acetabolare del bacino. Come tale ? mantenuta da componenti muscolari ossei e legamentosi. La guida ossea si realizza per via del contatto tra la testa del femore e la profonda fossa acetabolare munita a sua volta del labbro glenoideo che aumenta la superficie di contatto, con un apparato legamentoso abbastanza robusto, rappresentato dai legamenti ileofemorale, pubofemorale, ischiofemorale e la zona orbicolare. I principali motivi della sostituzione dell'anca sono: l'artrosi dell'anca, caratterizzata da una perdita progressiva della cartilagine articolare con uno spazio articolare ridotto e doloroso, e la necrosi della testa femorale. Il dolore ? di solito il sintomo d'esordio, spesso riferito all'inguine ma ? comune l'irradiazione alla superficie anteriore della coscia. In assenza di cause specifiche si prosegue con risonanza magnetica (RM) e radiografia (RX), dove mostrano elementi caratteristici in base allo stadio della malattia.
