Knowledge and skills of midwifery students related to the topic of perinatal loss

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá perinatální ztrátou, tedy situacemi, kdy dítě zemře v průběhu perinatálního období. Zaměřuje se na zmapování znalostí a dovedností studentek porodní asistence v tématu perinatální ztráty. V práci jsou tedy popsány aspekty této problematiky a s ní související témata jako truchlení rodičů po ztrátě, syndrom mrtvého plodu a popis možné péče a postupů v těchto situacích. Také je popsána psychická zátěž zdravotníků a možnosti její prevence. Dále jsou prezentovány výsledky výzkumu, který zkoumá znalosti a dovednosti studentek v oblasti těchto témat. Tyto výsledky ukazují, že studentky porodní asistence, ze zkoumaného vzorku, mají povědomí o problematice perinatální ztráty a možnostech péče. Jeví zájem a chtěly by navýšit vědomosti i dovednosti v rámci této problematiky.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on perinatal loss, which means the situations when a baby dies during the perinatal period. It focuses on mapping the knowledge and skills of students of midwifery about the topic of perinatal loss. In this thesis there are listed the aspects of this issue and the related topics such as grieving of the parents after loss of their child, dead fetus syndrome and the description of possible care-taking process and tactics in these situations. There is also the psychological burden of healthcare workers described and its prevention options. Further, there are presented the conclusions of the research, that explores the knowledge and skills of students of midwifery about this topics. The findings show, that the midwifery students, from the study group, do have awareness about perinatal loss and possibilities of care. They show interest and they would like to gain more knowledge and skills about this topic.
