The use of IPM principles to reduce the harmfulness of click beetle larvae in potato

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na účinnost dusíkatého vápna, insekticidních účinných látek, dále na vliv kultivace půdy a termínu sklizně na napadení hlíz brambor drátovci – larvami kovaříkovitých. Polní pokus probíhal v letech 2022, 2023 a 2024 na různých stanovištích u obce Radostín u Havlíčkova Brodu, v Kraji Vysočina. Použité insekticidní účinné látky ze skupiny pyrethroidů (lambda-cyhalothrin, cypermethrin a tefluthrin) a dusíkaté vápno nedosahovaly vysoké účinnosti proti drátovcům v porovnání s kontrolami. Nejúčinnější látkou byl tefluthrin, který v letech 2022 a 2023 dosahoval účinnosti 16,5 % a 20,5 % s průměrnou intenzitou napadení 3,81 a 2,29. Ostatní látky a dusíkaté vápno vykazovaly nižší účinnost (kromě cypermethrinu v roce 2023). V roce 2024 byly všechny varianty téměř zcela napadené, což mohlo být způsobeno nižší vlhkostí půdy v průběhu sezóny. Bylo potvrzeno, že dřívější termín sklizně může výrazně omezit napadení hlíz a zaručit tak kvalitu produkce.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the effectiveness of calcium cyanamide and insecticidal active substances, as well as the influence of soil cultivation and harvest date on potato tuber infestation by wireworms – larvae of click beetles. The field trial was conducted in 2022, 2023, and 2024 at various sites near the village of Radostín, close to Havlíčkův Brod, in the Vysočina Region. The insecticidal active substances used from the pyrethroid group (lambda-cyhalothrin, cypermethrin, and tefluthrin) and calcium cyanamide did not achieve high efficacy against wireworms compared to the controls. The most effective substance was tefluthrin, which reached an efficacy of 16,5 % and 20,5 % in 2022 and 2023, respectively, with an average infestation intensity of 3,81 and 2,29. The other substances and calcium cyanamide showed lower efficacy (except for cypermethrin in 2022). In 2024, all variants were almost completely infested, which may have been caused by lower soil moisture during the season. It was confirmed that an earlier harvest date can significantly reduce tuber infestation and thus ensure the quality of the production.
