Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je komparativní studií anglických a českých lexémů, které se týkají zvířat. Jejím cílem je porovnat odlišnosti a podobnosti vybraných slov ve třech příslušných etymologických slovnících od každého jazyka. Zvířecí lexémy zkoumané v této práci jsou lingvistické kognáty. Konkrétně perfektní kognáty s identickým pravopisem. Jsou analyzovány z hlediska jazyka původu, doby přijetí do vybraných jazyků, sémantických změn a dalších bodů, které by se mohly v etymologických vysvětlivkách lišit.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis is a comparative study of English and Czech lexemes concerning animals. Its purpose is to compare the differences and similarities of the selected words, using three respective etymological dictionaries of each language. The animal lexemes examined in this thesis are linguistic cognates. Specifically, perfect cognates with identical spelling. They are analysed in terms of language of origin, time of adoption into the language, semantic changes and further points which may differentiate in the etymological entries.
