Erasmus+ programme and its role in encouraging the interest in German as a foreign language in the context of the current position of the German language in European countries

Abstract:

The presented bachelor thesis has the title "Erasmus+ programme and its role in encouraging the interest in German as a foreign language in the context of the current position of the German language in the EU countries". The bachelor thesis has altogether two aims. The first aim is to describe the current position of the German language in the EU countries and to explain the principles of the Erasmus + programme. The second aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe how the Erasmus + programme is related to the current position of the German language in the EU countries and why the students who are participating in the Erasmus + programme in Germany wanted to study in this country. These questions are answered through a questionnaire completed by 27 students from 10 countries, who have already completed or are currently attending Erasmus stay in Germany. The bachelor thesis has two main parts. In the first, theoretical part German is presented as national and regional official language, minority language without official status and foreign language in the EU countries. In the second, practical part the reader will be informed in more details about the Erasmus + programme (basic information, aims, target groups, conditions and funding) and the questionnaire will be evaluated, including various questions about the German language in the EU countries, about the Erasmus + programme including learning of German and about another interesting topics. The hypotheses stated by the author in the introduction were confirmed during the completion of the bachelor thesis. In the EU countries, you can find German in different areas and the Erasmus + programme actually helps to improve German language skills, to increase interest in German as a foreign language and to improve the position of the German language in EU countries. The surveyed students have confirmed that they have achieved a marked improvement in their German language skills during their stay and that they will continue to be interested in German language even after returning to their home country, in which German is not the official language.

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce nese název "Program Erasmus + a jeho úloha při posilování zájmu o němčinu jako cizí jazyk v kontextu aktuálního postavení německého jazyka v zemích Evropské unie". Bakalářská práce má celkově dva cíle. Prvním cílem je popsat aktuální postavení německého jazyka v zemích Evropské unie a vysvětlit principy a fungování programu Erasmus +. Druhým cílem bakalářské práce je popsat, jak program Erasmus + souvisí s aktuálním postavením německého jazyka v zemích Evropské unie a z jakého důvodu chtěli studenti, kteří tento program absolvují tento program v Německu, studovat právě v této zemi. Tyto otázky jsou zodpovězeny na základě odpovědí z dotazníku vyplněného 27 studenty z 10 zemí Evropské unie, kteří program již absolvovali nebo momentálně absolvují. Bakalářská práce má dvě hlavní části. První, teoretická část se zabývá němčinou jako národním a regionálním úředním jazykem, menšinovým (neúředním) jazykem a cizím jazykem v zemích Evropské unie. Druhá část se zabývá programem Erasmus + (základními informacemi, cílem, cílovými skupinami, podmínkami a financováním) a vyhodnocením dotazníku, který zahrnuje otázky zaměřené na německý jazyk v zemích Evropské unie, zkušenosti z programu Erasmus + včetně učení se němčině a na další zajímavé oblasti. Hypotézy, které autorka v úvodu stanovila, byly v průběhu vypracování bakalářské práce potvrzeny. V zemích Evropské unie přichází člověk do kontaktu s německým jazykem v různých oblastech lidské činnosti a vnímá jeho postavení v Evropě. Program Erasmus + opravdu pomáhá při zlepšování znalostí německého jazyka a při posilování zájmu o německý jazyk jako cizí jazyk a také pomáhá zlepšit celkové postavení německého jazyka v zemích Evropské unie. Dotazovaní studenti mimo jiné potvrdili, že díky pobytu Erasmus + mimo jiné docílili velmi markantního zlepšení znalostí německého jazyka a mají o něj zájem i po návratu do rodné země, v níž němčina není úředním jazykem.
