Fair Trade with a focus on coffee

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá konceptem fair trade a věnuje se také kávě v porovnání s ostatními komoditami. V úvodu je představena historie a vývoj fair trade ve světě a dále je zmíněn jeho vývoj v České republice. Poté je charakterizován koncept fair trade, základní principy, certifikace Fairtrade a Fairtrade standardy. Též se zaměřuje na minimální výkupní cenu, Fairtrade Premium, známku FAIRTRADE a nejvýznamnější komodity. V další části jsou představeny mezinárodní a světové organizace zabývající se fair trade. Poté se práce věnuje kávě v rámci fair trade, uvádí hlavní producentské země a porovnává pozici kávy s ostatními produkty Fairtrade. Představena je také Mezinárodní organizace pro kávu. Hlavní část je věnována výzkumu a s ním spojenému dotazníkovému šetření, které se týká znalosti českých spotřebitelů o fair trade. Zkoumá hlavní bariéry, které brání většímu podílu produktů Fairtrade na trhu v České republice a zjišťuje jaká je pozice kávy v porovnání s ostatními produkty.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the concept of Fair Trade and also focuses on coffee in comparison with other commodities. The introduction presents the history and development of Fair Trade in the world and mentions its development in the Czech Republic. Then the concept of Fair Trade, basic principles, Fairtrade certification and Fairtrade standards are characterized. It also focuses on the Fairtrade minimum price, Fairtrade Premium, the FAIRTRADE mark and the most important commodities. The next part presents international and world organizations that are concerned with Fair Trade. The next part is devoted to coffee in Fair Trade, presents the principal producers and compares the position of coffee with other Fairtrade products. The International coffee organization is also introduced. The main part is devoted to research and the related questionnaire survey, which concerns the knowledge of Czech consumers about Fair Trade. It examines the main barriers that inhibit the larger share of Fairtrade products on the market in the Czech Republic and identifies the position of coffee in comparison with other products.
