The Fate and Bioavailability of Legacy and Emerging Soil Contaminants

Abstract:

V této dizertační práci je prezentováno sedm studií zaměřených na kontaminaci půd pesticidy. Jako zástupce „dříve užívaných“ pesticidů, je zde použito p,p'-DDE a je zde prezentován způsob zjišťování rizik s nim spojených a taky jeho remediace pomoci biouhlu. Nové sloučeniny („současně používané pesticidy“) byly navrženy tak, aby méně zatěžovaly životní prostředí a byly méně toxické pro živé organismy, avšak mnoho z nich má podobný osud jako ty „dříve užívané.“ V této práci jsou prezentovány výsledky monitoringu zemědělsky využívaných půd v České republice. Také je zde uvedeno několik studií zaměřených na osud těchto látek v půdním prostředí. Práce se také zabývá novým typem pesticidů, nanopesticidy.

Abstract:

This dissertation is compiled of seven studies that are focused on the soil contamination by pesticides. Legacy pesticides in soil are represented by p,p'-DDE and the potential tool for the assessment of the risks associated with legacy pesticides in soil and also the remediation of such soils by new amendment, biochar, is presented. Another group of pesticides, currently used pesticides (CUPs) have been designed to be less harmful to the environment and living organisms. However, many of them follow the same fate as the legacy pesticides. In this thesis the results from monitoring of agriculturally used soils in Czech Republic are presented. There are also some studies focused on the fate of these compounds in the soil environment. This work also presents new type of pesticides, nanopesticides.
