Relationships of Dermatoglyphic Traits with Body Structure and Growth

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the relationships between dermatoglyphic traits, body composition, and body growth. The formation of dermatoglyphic traits begins and is completed in the early stages of prenatal development, making them good markers for studying the prenatal setting of the organism. In this study, dependencies between body dimensions and dermatoglyphic traits were examined in a sample of 70 adults and 58 children from the project "Computer Support for the Analysis and Prediction of Child Growth and Development" (TA ČR). We investigated the relationships between body dimensions and dermatoglyphic traits. The examined body dimensions included body weight, body height, waist circumference, hip circumference, and WHR. The evaluated dermatoglyphic traits included the total frequency of whorl patterns, the frequency of whorl patterns on the right and left hands, the summed quantitative value of AFRC, the summed quantitative value of AFRC on the right hand, the summed quantitative value of AFRC on the left hand, and the size of the atd angle on the right and left hands. In women, we observed a weak negative correlation between the total frequency of whorl patterns and the frequency of whorl patterns on the right hand with body height. Similarly, a weak negative correlation with borderline statistical significance was noted between the AFRC of the left hand and the WHR of women. In men, a slightly negative borderline statistical significance was observed between the atd angle on the right hand and body height. The strongest observed relationship was between the atd angle of the right hand in girls and hip circumference, characterized by a moderate correlation. Given that the resulting values mostly reached low or moderate correlations, we can conclude that the measured body dimensions and dermatoglyphic traits do not significantly correlate, except for the last mentioned result.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na souvislosti mezi dermatoglyfickými znaky, tělesnou stavbou a růstem těla. Tvorba dermatoglyfických znaků začíná a je ukončena v raných fázích prenatálního vývoje a z tohoto důvodu představují dobré markery pro zkoumání prenatálního nastavení organismu. V této práci jsou zkoumány závislosti mezi tělesnými rozměry a dermatoglyfickými znaky 70 dospělých a 58 nědospělých jedincu z projektu Počítačová podpora pro analýzy a predikci růstu a vývoje dítěte (TA ČR). Zkoumali jsme závislost mezi tělesnými rozměry a dermatoglyfickými znaky. Mezi zkoumané tělesné rozměry patřily tělesná hmotnost, tělesná výška, obvod pasu, obvod boků a WHR. Hodnocené dermatoglyfické znaky zahrnovaly celkovou frekvenci vírových vzorů, frekvenci vírových vzorů na pravé a levé ruce, sumární kvantitativní hodnotu AFRC, sumární kvantitativní hodnotu AFRC na pravé ruce, sumární kvantitativní hodnotu AFRC na levé ruce, a velikost atd úhlu na pravé a levé ruce. U žen jsme zaznamenali slabou negativní korelaci celkové frekvence vírových vzorů a frekvence vírových vzorů na pravé ruce s tělesnou výškou. Podobně při korelaci AFRC levé ruky a WHR žen byla zaznamenána slabá negativní korelace s hraniční statistickou významností. U mužů jsme zaznamenali mírně negativní hraniční statistickou významnost mezi atd úhlem na pravé ruce a tělesnou výškou. Nejsilnější zaznamenaný vztah byl mezi atd úhlem pravé ruky u dívek s obvodem boků, tento vztah se vyznačoval mírnou korelací. Vzhledem k tomu, že výsledné hodnoty ve většině případů dosahovaly nízké, případně mírné korelace. Můžeme konstatovat, že kromě posledního zmíněného výsledku spolu měřené tělesné dermatoglyfické rozměry nesouvisí.
