Abstract:

Vysoko dimenzionálne dáta sú produkované na dennej báze, čo motivuje výskum výkonnejších spôsobov ukladania a dopytovania sa dát. Tradičné databázové štruktúry sú čoraz ďalej menej schopné udržať tempo so zvyšujúcou sa zložitosťou multimediálnych dát. Súčasné trendy naznačujú, že optimalizácia indexačnej štruktúry pre konkrétny súbor dát prináša pozitívne výsledky. Táto práca je motivovaná úspešným aplikovaním strojového učenia v doméne databázového indexovania. Poskytuje prehľad existujúcich metód založených na strojovom učení a experimentálne vyhodnocuje možných kandidátov za účelom možného rozšírenia existujucej indexačnej štruktúry - M-indexu.

Abstract:

High-dimensional data is being produced and processed daily which motivates the research of more efficient means to store and query the data. The traditional database structures are growing less and less capable of keeping up with the ever-increasing complexity of multimedia data. The current trends imply that optimising the index for the structure of the particular dataset yields positive results. This work is motivated by the successful application of machine learning in the database indexing domain. It also provides a survey of the existing learned methods and experimentally evaluates the possible candidates with the prospect of the potential extension of a component of an existing indexing structure -- the M-index.
