Application of dataloggers in cars

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na možnosti využití datalogerů v automobilovém průmyslu. Moderním trendem je testování automobilů v reálných podmínkách. Jednou z možností, jak testovat a monitorovat činnost řídících jednotek v automobilu, je právě dataloger. Dataloger je záznamové zařízení, které se používá i při hledání sporadických nebo jiných závad na vozidle. Teoretická část práce popisuje vlastnosti datalogerů nabízených v současnosti na trhu. Na základě tohoto rozboru byl vybrán z nabídky nejvhodnější dataloger pro hledání závad na vozidle a pro vytváření statistik o využívání vozu. Další části práce jsou již úzce orientovány na datalogery od firmy G.i.N.. K teoretické části náleží také popis příslušenství pro datalogery a charakteristika způsobů komunikace s nimi. Praktická část je zaměřena na použití datalogeru jako diagnostického nástroje a přizpůsobení datalogeru dané aplikaci. Zároveň se zabývá i správou konfiguračních souborů a nahraných dat, způsoby napájení datalogeru při měření klidových proudů a návrhem napájecího modulu pro dataloger. V posledních dvou kapitolách jsou řešeny praktické příklady způsobů měření různých veličin pomocí datalogeru. Poslední kapitola je věnována ukázce odhalení sporadické závady pomocí datalogeru.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with possibilities of using data loggers in automotive industry. Testing cars in real conditions is the latest trend in the field. One of the options of how to test and monitor operation of control units in the vehicle is a data logger. Data logger is a recording device used for tracing of sporadic as well as other faults in the vehicle. The theoretical part of the thesis offers a description of data logger properties currently available in the market and based on this analysis, the most suitable data logger for finding faults and producing statistics related to the use of the vehicle was selected. The following parts of the thesis are closely focused on data loggers by G.i.N. company. The theoretical part also provides a description of data logger accessories and characteristics of communication options. The practical part presents the use of data logger as a diagnostic tool and how to adjust the data logger for required application. This part also deals with management of configuration files and recorded data, data logger power supply options when measuring quiescent current including a design for data logger power supply module. The last two chapters offer several practical solutions of measuring various values using data logger. The last chapter demonstrates a detection of a sporadic fault by means of data logger.
