Student's Expectations from Universities' Career Counselling Services

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá tématem očekávání studentů od kariérního poradenství poskytovaného v rámci vysokých škol. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaká jsou očekávání studentů od kariérního centra a jakým způsobem je možné jejich očekávání co nejlépe naplnit. Druhým výzkumným cílem pak je zjistit, jestli existuje nějaká typologie studentů jako potenciálních uživatelů kariérového poradenství na vysokých školách. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část pojednává o základních teoretických konceptech jako kariéra, kariérové poradenství a student jako uživatel kariérového poradenství na vysoké škole. Empirická část pak popisuje metodologii výzkumu a výsledky výzkumného šetření, které byly získány analýzou dat z focus groups vedených se studenty Masarykovy univerzity. Na základě analýzy dat vznikla typologie studentů jako potenciálních uživatelů kariérového poradenství na vysokých školách.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis deals with students’ expectations from universities' career counselling services. The aim of this thesis is to find out what are the students’ expectations from career centre and what is the best way to fulfil those expectations. The second aim of this thesis is to find out whether there is a typology of students as potential consumers of career counselling services in universities. This thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents essential theoretical concepts like career, career counselling and student as a consumer of career services at the university. The empirical part describes methodology and results of the research. The results were acquired through analysis of data from focus groups of Masaryk University students. Based on the results, a typology of students was discovered.
