Application of game theory in selected areas of financial relations

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem disertační práce je využití aplikací teorie her na některé oblasti finančních vztahů, dále pak tomu, jak tuto teorii využít k analýze finančních vazeb vybraných finančních institucí a na konkrétních modelech ukázat, jak může být těmto finančním institucím prospěšná. Prvním dílčím cílem disertační práce je potom zjistit, zda využití teorii her může dát lepší výsledky a mít silnější predikční schopnost, než v současnosti používané metody. Druhým dílčím cílem je ukázka aplikace teorie her na problematiku korupce. Hlavním výstupem praktické části jsou matematické modely sestavené pro konkrétní příklady. Velká pozornost je věnována problematice korupce, která je eticky i právně nepřijatelným chováním, nicméně v současné době je velkým problémem naší společnosti. Nástroje teorie her mohou výrazně pomoci k rozkrývání mechanismů, na kterých korupční jednání funguje, a také navrhovat systémové změny, které by měly vést k jejímu potlačení. K dosažení tohoto cíle jsou použity především metody aplikované matematiky, teorie pravděpodobnosti a statistické metody. Výzkum došel k závěru, že teorie her je velmi vhodným nástrojem pro takové zkoumání, což se povedlo potvrdit na různých modelech z odlišných oblastí. Výsledky v jednotlivých praktických kapitolách dávají za pravdu i dílčím cílům této práce - ověřit, že využití teorie her dává lepší výsledky než jiné, v současnosti používané metody.

Abstract:

The aim of the dissertation is to use the applications of game theory to some areas of financial relations, then how this theory used to analyze the financial ties of some financial institutions and show on the specific models how it can be beneficial for these financial institutions. The first aim of the dissertation is to determine whether the use of game theory can give better results and have stronger predictive power than currently used methods. The second partial aim is to demonstrate the use of the application of game theory to the phenomenon of corruption. The main outcome of the practical part are the mathematical models constructed for specific examples and cases. Great attention is paid to the phenomenon of corruption, which is ethically and legally unacceptable behavior, however, it is currently a major problem in our society. The tools of game theory can greatly help to uncover the mechanisms in which corruption operates, and also propose systemic changes that should lead to its suppression. To achieve these objectives, the methods of applied mathematics are mainly used, probability theory and statistical methods. The research concludes that game theory is very suitable tool for such investigations, which was confirmed by various models of different areas. The results in individual chapters confirm the partial aims of this work - to verify that the use of game theory gives better results than other currently used methods.
