Gauss type quadrature rules

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to generalize Gauss type quadrature rules in order to calculate singular integrals. To achieve the aim, special Gauss type quadrature are taken into consideration. The paper is divided into three parts. The first one includes frequently used orthogonal polynomials that are important for numerical integration. The second part discusses four basic Gauss quadrature rules. The final part of the thesis is concerned with the main topic of the thesis, while the emphasis is put on the singular integrals. Eventually, numerical quadrature along with the examples are offered.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je zovšeobecniť Gaussove kvadratúrne formuly na výpočet singulárnych integrálov. Preto sa zameriava na špeciálne Gaussove kvadratúry, ktoré umožňujú vyriešiť tento problém. Práca je rozdelená do troch kapitol. Prvá kapitola obsahuje často používané ortogonálne polynómy, dôležité pri numerickom integrovaní. Druhá kapitola pojednáva o štyroch základných Gaussovych kvadratúrnych formulách. Predmetom tretej kapitoly je hlavná téma práce, pričom sa zameriava hlavne na singulárne integrály. Na základe vhodne zvolených príkladov sa snažíme ukázať, že je užitím špeciálnych kvadratúr možné aproximovať integrály so singularitami.
