Modern Trends in the Treatment of Chronic Inflammations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce rešeršního typu se zabývá současnými metodami v léčbě chronických zánětů, které mají celosvětový zdravotní, ekonomický i společenský dopad. K nejznámějším patří astma, atopická dermatitida, ulcerózní kolitida a Crohnova nemoc. Problematika těchto onemocnění je spojena především s jejich prevalencí, náklady na léčbu, zhoršenou kvalitou života pacientů a vysokou úmrtností. Výše zmíněné choroby zatím nejsou vyléčitelné. Z toho vyplývá, že léčebné metody slouží k tomu, aby potlačily příznaky nemoci a nedocházelo ke zhoršení zdravotního stavu pacienta. Bakalářská práce představuje komplexní přehled dostupných možností léčby, které v souvislosti s výskytem chronických zánětů existují. Celkově nejvýznamnější léčbou je biologická léčba monoklonálními protilátkami a léčba kortikosteroidy. Ovšem své místo v konkrétních chorobách zaujímají i imunosupresiva, aminosalicyláty, lokální imunomodulátory či fototerapie. Dále ukazuje na faktory ovlivňující zřetelně jejich výskyt, mezi které patří životní styl, genetika a životní prostředí.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with current methods in the treatment of chronic inflammation which has an impact on global health, economy and society. Asthma, atopic dermatitis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease represent the most significant examples. The issue of these diseases is primarily associated with the prevalence and treatment costs, impaired quality of life for patients and high mortality rates. The diseases mentioned above are incurable. Therefore, the treatment methods focus on the supression of the disease and prevention of the deterioration of the health condition of the patient. This bachelor thesis presents a comprehensive overview of available treatment options in connection with the occurrence of existing chronic inflammation and it indicates factors that significantly affect their incidence. The most significant treatment in overall is biological with usage of monoclonal antibodies and corticosteroids. The use of immunosuppressants, aminosalicylates, local immunomodulators and phototherapy could be also used as a primary treatment for above listed diseases. This thesis also states factors influencing their occurrence distinctly, including lifestyle, genetics and environment.
