Analysis of the Economic Concept of Mercantilism in Connection with the Effects of the War of the American Colonies for Independence on the Economy of the United States and Great Britain

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje analýze hospodářské koncepce merkantilismu v souvislosti s příčinami, průběhem a dopady války amerických osad za nezávislost na ekonomiku Spojených států a Velké Británie, respektive na jejich příkladu, a srovnání hospodářských vztahů a ekonomiky těchto dvou zemí v posledních letech před válkou s obdobím války. První část práce je analýzou rozdílných pohledů představitelů obou zemí na koloniální politiku Velké Británie, včetně hospodářských rozdílů v „osadách“ na severu a jihu budoucích USA. Druhá část se zabývá analýzou klíčových zákonů schválených v Británii v rámci severoamerické koloniální politiky, které v konečném důsledku vyvrcholily válkou amerických osad za nezávislost. Ve třetí části autorka analyzuje klíčové události v předvečer války včetně tzv. „Bostonského pití čaje“ nebo činnosti prvního a druhého Kontinentálního kongresu. V další části se věnuje hospodářským souvislostem války a v neposlední řadě jejímu dopadu na ekonomiku obou zemí po válce, konkrétně fungování mezinárodního obchodu v rámci koloniální politiky Velké Británie, způsobům financování války, inflaci, nově vzniklé finanční politice po válce atd.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the analysis of the economic concept of mercantilism in connection with the causes, course and effects of the war of the American colonies for independence on the economy of the United States and Great Britain, respectively on their example, and a comparison of the economic relations and economies of the two countries in the years before the war with the war period. The first part of the work is an analysis of different views of the representatives of both countries on the colonial policy of Great Britain, including economic differences in "settlements" in the north and south of the future US. The second part deals with the analysis of key laws passed in Britain in the framework of North American colonial policy, which ultimately culminated in the war of American settlements for independence. In the third part, the author analyzes the key events on the eve of the war, including the so-called „The Boston Tea Party“ or activities of the First and Second Continental Congresses. The next part deals with the economic context of the war and last but not least, its impact on the economies of both countries after the war, namely the functioning of international trade within the colonial policy of Great Britain, the methods of financing the war, inflation, the newly created financial policy after the war, etc.
