Abstract:

Záměrem této práce je přiblížit stanoviska týkající se environmentální krize u tří vybraných autorů věnujících se vědnímu oboru biologie, a to Davida Attenborougha, Edwarda O. Wilsona a Jareda Diamonda. Z díla Davida Attenborougha jsou vybrány publikace Život na Zemi a Planeta žije, z pera Edwarda O. Wilsona jsou zvoleny knihy Rozmanitost života, O původu člověka a The Future of life, a nakonec z práce Jareda Diamonda jsou vybrány knihy Třetí šimpanz, Osudy lidských společností a Collapse. Tato díla jsou analyzována s ohledem na téma environmentální krize, jež je v nich obsaženo. Hlavním cílem této práce je vyložit názory zvolených biologů, které se věnují tématu environmentální krize, a předložit řešení této problematiky, jež vybraní autoři nabízejí. Dále má tato práce za úkol tyto názory i řešení mezi sebou porovnat a zjistit, zdali má jejich vědní obor na zvolené autory vliv a tito biologové se tedy v daných aspektech shodují, či naopak uvažují zcela rozdílně.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to present opinions concerning the environmental crisis in the work of three chosen authors dedicated to biology, namely David Attenborough, Edward O. Wilson and Jared Diamond. From the work of David Attenborough the selected books are as follows: Life on Earth and The Living planet, from the pen of Edward O. Wilson are chosen: The Diversity of life, On Human nature, The Future of life, and finally from the work of Jared Diamond The Third Chimpanzee, Guns, germs and steel and Collapse are selected. These works are analyzed regarding the issue of the environmental crisis, which they are dealing with. The main objective of this thesis is to unfold views of selected biologists, which are referring to the topic of the environmental crisis. Moreover, another goal is to bring up a solution to this problem offered by chosen authors. Furthermore, this work sets a task to compare those views and possible solutions among each other. In addition, it tries to find out whether their field of study influences the authors in a way that they agree in such aspects or whether they think of the given topic quite differently.
