Vaccine administration in pharmacies Precedents from abroad and the possibilities of their use in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a highly significant worldwide demand for vaccination. This has affected medical facilities such as pharmacies. The work posits a theoretical overview of vaccination as a specific health intervention and describes the pharmacist's role in the vaccination system in greater detail in the final summary entitled „Practical significance for the pharmacist". The key point of this work is the practical part based on the analysis of the current legislation and especially the practical experience from countries such as Poland. It presents the concept of a potential framework for vaccine distribution in the context of Czech pharmacies. Simultaneously, this part is documented with photos from the practical implementation of vaccine distribution in pharmacies in Poland. At the same time, the work helps us pharmacists to come to the understanding that even though the vaccination itself requires only but a small injection, its impact is lifelong and very significant.

Abstract:

Počas pandémie ochorenia COVID-19 nastala celosvetovo obrovská potreba vakcinácie. Tejto skutočnosti sa nevyhli ani zdravotnícke zariadenia – lekárne. Práca sa zaoberá teoretickým prehľadom vakcinácie ako špecifickej zdravotnej intervencie a rolu lekárnika v systéme vakcinácie detailnejšie popisuje v záverečnej sumarizácii pod názvom „Praktický význam pre lekárnika“. Kľúčový bod tejto práce tvorí praktická časť, ktorá na základe rozboru aktuálnej legislatívy a hlavne praktických skúseností zo zahraničia (Poľska) predstavuje koncept potenciálneho systému očkovania aj v podmienkach českých lekární. Táto časť je zároveň doplnená fotografiami z praktickej realizácie očkovania v lekárňach v Poľsku. Práca zároveň pripravuje nás, lekárnikov, aby sme si uvedomili, že k očkovaniu je potrebná sice malá injekcia, ktorá však má obrovský celoživotný dopad.
