Climate change consequences in the climate variability of Southern, Central and Northern Moravia

Abstract:

Otázce současné změny klimatu je věnována stále větší pozornost, která se v posledních letech soustřeďuje na její studium v regionálním měřítku. Předkládaná bakalářská práce se proto zabývá popisem projevů klimatické změny v pěti vybraných moravských podoblastech (jižní, střední, severní Morava, Jeseníky, zbylé vrchoviny a hornatiny) za období 1961–2020. Klimatologická data z vybraných stanic sítě ČHMÚ byla homogenizována pomocí Alexanderssonova testu a chybějící hodnoty byly doplněny pomocí lineární regresní funkce, čímž byly vyprodukovány kompletní časové řady pro 10 teplotních, srážkových a sněhových charakteristik. Výsledné mapy normálových období 1961–1990 a 1991–2020 byly vytvořeny pomocí interpolace zohledňující nadmořskou výšku, zeměpisnou šířku, délku a vlastnosti terénu. Pro všech pět podoblastí byly vytvořeny kompilované časové řady a vypočítány statistické významnosti lineárních trendů. Výsledky analýzy potvrdily statisticky významné rostoucí teplotní trendy, přičemž trend průměrné roční teploty vzduchu se pohyboval od 0,31 °C/10 let (Jeseníky) do 0,38 °C/10 let (střední Morava). Průměrná maximální teplota vzduchu se zvyšovala rychleji než průměrná minimální teplota vzduchu v celém zkoumaném území s výjimkou jižní Moravy. Srážkové charakteristiky nevykazovaly statisticky významné trendy. V případě sněhových veličin byly nalezeny statisticky významné klesající trendy, které se u počtu dnů se sněhovou pokrývkou pohybovaly od –4,1 dnů/10 let (jižní Morava) do -7,1 dnů/10 let (severní Morava a zbylé vrchoviny a hornatiny). Dále bylo prokázáno, že klimatologické charakteristiky v normálovém období 1990–2020 již neodpovídají aktualizované Quittově klasifikaci. Bakalářská práce potvrdila nárůst teplotních a pokles sněhových charakteristik v závislosti na konkrétní podoblasti, které jsou v souladu se současnou změnou klimatu mírných šířek na severní polokouli. Nicméně významné prostorové rozdíly teplotních a sněhových trendů zdůrazňují význam zkoumané problematiky v regionálním měřítku.

Abstract:

The issue of current climate change is paid increasing attention which has focused on its study on a regional scale in recent years. This bachelor thesis therefore deals with the description of the effects of climate change in five selected Moravian sub-regions (southern, central, northern Moravia, the Jeseníky Mountains, other highlands and mountains) for the 1961–2020 period. Climatological data from selected stations of the ČHMÚ network were homogenized using the Alexandersson test and missing values were filled in using a linear regression function, thus producing complete time series for 10 temperature, precipitation, and snow characteristics. The resulting maps of normal periods 1961–1990 and 1991–2020 were created using interpolation based on altitude, latitude, longitude, and terrain characteristics. For all five sub-regions, compiled time series were created, and the statistical significance of linear trends was calculated. The results of the analysis confirmed statistically significant increasing temperature trends and the trend of the average annual air temperature ranging from 0.31 °C/10 years (the Jeseníky Mountains) to 0.38 °C/10 years (central Moravia). The average maximum air temperature has been increasing faster than the average minimum air temperature in the whole of the studied area except for southern Moravia. The precipitation characteristics did not show statistically significant trends. In the case of snow characteristics, statistically significant decreasing trends were found, which for the number of days with snow cover ranged from -4.1 days/10 years (southern Moravia) to -7.1 days/10 years (northern Moravia and the other highlands). Furthermore, it was proved that the climatological characteristics in the normal period 1990–2020 no longer correspond to the updated Quitt classification. The bachelor thesis confirmed an increase in temperature and a decrease in snow characteristics depending on the specific sub-region, which are in line with the current climate change of temperate latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere. However, significant spatial differences in temperature and snow trends emphasize the importance of the research issue on a regional scale.
