French Decolonization and Its Impact on French-Algerian Relations

Abstract:

Dekolonizace Francie ovlivnila nejen ji samotnou, ale také velkou část světa, neboť koloniální panství této velmoci bylo velmi rozlehlé. Tato práce se zaměřuje na průběh dekolonizace Alžírska. Zkoumá dopady tohoto konfliktu, který byl zřejmě nejkrvavější v rámci boje proti francouzskému koloniálnímu systému, na následné vztahy mezi oběma zeměmi. Další části práce sledují vývoj spolupráce v 80. a 90. letech, kdy docházelo k postupnému oteplení vztahů mezi státy. V rámci takovéhoto vývoje jsou zkoumány jak vztahy bilaterální, tak i multilaterální, jako je například Barcelonský proces.

Abstract:

French decolonization influenced not only the country itself, but also a big part of the world, because colonial domain of this state was greatly vast. This thesis focuses on the process of Algerian decolonization. It searches the impact of this conflict, that was probably the most bloody one in the fights against french colonial regime, on ensuing relations between both two countries. Other parts of the thesis follow the development of cooperation in 80s and 90s, when the slow amelioration of relations started. In the frame of this development, there are being searched bilateral and also multilateral relations, like Barcelona process.
