Znoymo as a residence: the transformation of the Přemyslid palace in the 12th and 13th century

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje Znojmu jako rezidenci ve 12. a 13. století. Její proměny jsou sledovány ze třech základních úhlů, jimž odpovídá rozdělení práce na tematické kapitoly. V úvodu jsem rozebral výběrovou literaturu k rezidenčním znakům, abych ukázal, že se mým tématem ještě nikdo v celku nezabýval. V první části práce jsem pojednal o vzniku znojemské rezidence a její úloze v širších souvislostech zemského dění. Díky tomuto pevnému základu jsem mohl přejít ke zkoumání knížecích a markrabských dvorů se vztahem ke Znojmu. V poslední části jsem se věnoval prostoru. Ke slovu přišlo zkoumání centrálních funkcí, vztah rezidence a města a reprezentace a legitimizace panovníků pomocí architektury, mincí a pohřbívání. V závěru jsem se snažil zodpovědět základní otázku, jestli bylo Znojmo rezidencí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with Znojmo as a residence in the 12th and 13th century. Its transformations were followed in three fundamental angles, to whom corresponds the arrangement of the text in the thematic chapters. In the beginning I have analysed the literature about certain characters of the residence in Znojmo to show, that this topic is unexplored as a whole. In the first part I have examined the origin of this residence and then its role in the czech political history of the 12th and 13th century. With this text I had a solid base to research the courts of the dukes and margraves of Znojmo. In the last part I have tried to analyse the physical remains of the residence. I have provided an insight to representational and legitimizing functions of the přemyslid castle, chapel of saint Catherine, Znojmo monasteries and churches, burials and coins. In the conclusion, I have tried to answer the question: Was Znojmo a residence?
