Use of Estimate in Mathematics Education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma Užití odhadu ve výuce matematiky je zaměřena na pojem odhad, jeho výskyt a význam ve výuce matematiky, představení typových matematických úloh, které s tímto pojmem souvisí a pilotní ověření odhadu žáků. Práce specifikuje pojem odhad z různých pohledů a zaměřuje se na pojem odhad v jednotlivých oblastech matematiky. V rámci řešení diplomové práce bylo provedeno dotazníkové šetření mezi učiteli matematiky. Následně jsou zde objasněny tři základní typy odhadů. V diplomové práci najdeme řadu příkladů na příslušné typy odhadu. Praktická část diplomové práce je soustředěna na pilotáž pracovního listu na téma: Odhad vzdáleností. Tento pracovní list je následně rozpracován. Při zpracování výsledků jsou u žáků pozorovány tendence prodlužování či naopak zkracování délek.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis ?Use of Estimation in Mathematics Education? is focused on the concept of estimate, its occurrence and meaning in mathematics education, the introduction of the type mathematical tasks that are related to this concept and the pilot verification of the pupils estimate capabilities. The thesis specifies the term of estimate from the different perspectives and focuses on the concept of the estimate in the particular areas of mathematics. In the analysis within the thesis a survey questionnaire among the teachers of mathematics was carried out. Subsequently, three basic types of estimates are clarified. In this thesis, a number of examples of each type of estimate can be found. The practical section of the thesis is aimed at the worksheet piloting which is focused on the topic Estimate of distance. This worksheet is subsequently developed. When elaborating the results, the trends of enlargement or, on the other hand, of shortening of the length were observed by the pupils.
