Grieving in community: The method of Ulrike Reimann

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje smutnicímu workshopu Ulrike Reimann, který je na evropské půdě jedinečným fenoménem. Kladla si za cíl zjistit, proč se respondenti jejích workshopů účastní, a co jim přinášejí. K tomu byly použity čtyři zdroje dat; poznámky z workshopu, rozhovory s účastníky, přihlašovací formulář a poznámky z konzultací s lektorkou. Analýza rozhovorů pomocí metody IPA ukázala, že hlavní témata pro motivaci respondentů k účasti, byla Důvěra skrz doporučení či zkušenost s podobným typem kurzu a Práce se smutkem u druhých z profesních důvodů nebo u sebe z důvodu vůle být v kontaktu se svým vlastním smutkem. Část analýzy ohledně přínosu workshopu přinesla sedm témat. Hlavním přínosem pro účastníky byla Změna související se změnou náhledu např. na konečnost či s uzavřením nějaké životní etapy nebo zármutku. Ke Změně mohlo dojít hlavně díky prožitku Komunity a Já v komunitě v rámci workshopu. Výsledky práce mohou sloužit jako podklad pro další výzkum a jako inspirace odborníkům, kteří se setkávají se zármutkem.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on Ulrike Reimann’s workshops, which is a unique phenomenon in Europe. We aimed to explore why respondents participate in the workshops and what the participation brings to them. We used four data sources: notes from the workshop, interviews with participants, the application form, and notes from consultations with the facilitator. The analysis of the interviews carried out with the IPA method, revealed that the primary respondents’ motivation to participate was Trust through recommendations, experience with a similar workshop and Grief work with others for professional reasons or with oneself with the goal of being in touch with one’s sadness. The analysis part, related to the benefits of the seminar, yielded seven themes. The main benefit was Change associated with the change of perspective, e.g., on finality, or with a closure of a life phase or grief. The Change could happen mainly thanks to the experience of Community and Me in Community within the workshop. The findings can serve as a basis for future research and inspiration for professionals in grief work.
