Health Literacy of Mothers in a Shelter

Abstract:

V dnešní době se často setkáváme s pojmem sociální vyloučení. Jednou ze sociálně vyloučených skupin osob jsou právě matky s dětmi v azylových domech. Oblastí zájmu v případě této práce je zdravotní gramotnost těchto matek. Cílem bakalářské práce bylo porozumění významu zdravotní gramotnosti v oblasti životního stylu a péče o dítě u klientek v Azylovém domě pro matky s dětmi v tísni v Uherském Brodě. Výzkum byl koncipován kvalitativně jako případová studie. Data byla shromažďována pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a pozorování. Následně byla zpracována metodou interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. V souvislosti se zdravotní gramotností byly stanoveny tři fenomény: "péče", "samostatnost" a "životní styl". Kategorií bylo stanoveno osm, a to 1) rodina, vzor; 2) kariéra, finance; 3) životní styl; 4) zájmy; 5) péče o děti, péče o zdraví; 6) hygiena; 7) pomoc ze strany azylového domu, vnitřní řád; 8) samostatnost. Zdravotní gramotnost těchto sociálně vyloučených matek by měla být navyšována, protože její nízká míra negativně ovlivňuje zdraví nejen samotných matek, ale i jejich dětí.

Abstract:

Today, we often come across the term social exclusion. One of the socially excluded groups are mothers with children in shelters. In this bachelor's thesis, the area of focus is the health literacy of these mothers. The bachelor's thesis aims to understand the importance of health literacy in the area of the lifestyle and child care with the clients at the Shelter for Mothers with Children in Need in Uherský Brod. The research was conceived qualitatively as a case study. Data was collected as semi-structured interviews and observations. It was further processed by the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis. Three phenomena were set in relation to health literacy: "care", "independence" and "lifestyle". Eight categories were set, namely 1) family, model; 2) career, finance; 3) lifestyle; 4) interests; 5) child care, health care; 6) hygiene; 7) help from the shelter, internal order; 8) independence. The health literacy of these socially excluded mothers should be increased because its low values negatively affect not only the health of the mothers themselves but the health of their children as well.
