Sedimentological study of the Lower Miocene deposits of the Vienna Basin

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se zaměřuje na sedimentologický výzkum spodnomiocenních sedimentů české části vídeňské pánve. Na vzorcích odebraných z vrtných jader společnosti MND a.s. byla provedena litofaciální analýza, rentgenová fluorescenční spektrometrie, zrnitostní analýza, laboratorní gamaspektrometrie a studium průsvitných těžkých minerálů. Sedimenty eggenburgského stáří nejspíše představují mělkomořské sedimenty, konkrétně by se mohlo jednat o spodní část lužického souvrství. Studované sedimenty ottnangského stáří představují mělkomořské sedimenty uložené za zvyšující se hladiny, které jsou nejspíše součástí hodonínských písků – bazálních klastik ottnangu. Ukládání studovaných sedimentů karpatského stáří probíhalo nejspíše v mořských lagunách. Na základě podobnosti výsledků analýz detritických granátů s výsledky z karpatské předhlubně, byly jako zdrojové horniny sedimentů karpatského stáří považovány svory a pararuly moravika.

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis focuses on the sedimentological research of the Lower Miocene sediments of the Czech part of the Vienna Basin. Samples taken from drill cores of MND a.s. were analyzed using lithofacies analysis, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, grain size analysis, laboratory gamma spectrometry and study of translucent heavy minerals. Sediments of Eggenburgian age most likely represent shallow marine sediments, specifically, it could be the lower part of the Lužice Formation. The studied sediments of the Ottnangian age represent shallow-sea sediments deposited below the rising water level, which are most likely part of the Hodonín sands - the basal clastics of the Ottnangian. The deposition of the studied sediments of Karpatian age most likely took place in marine lagoons. Based on the similarity of the results of analyzes of detrital garnets with the results from the Carpathian Foredeep, Moravicum mica-schist and pararules were considered as the source rocks of the sediments of Karpatian age.
