The skeleton of foot in a group of Anabatists from Přibice (Moravia, Czech Republic)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na analýzu kostry nohy u skupiny novokřtěnců z Přibic ve vztahu k její funkci. Noha jakožto orgán, který se nachází pouze u primátů, zajišťuje významnou funkci, a to zprostředkování styku s podložkou, po které se pohybujeme. Kostra nohy novokřtěnců z Přibic se stala předmětem zkoumání z důvodu jejich způsobu života, který vykazoval velkou míru pracovního zatížení, kdy se předpokládá, že výše uvedené se do určité míry projeví na kostře nohy a jejích funkčních vlastnostech. Tato práce si klade za cíl popsat a analyzovat kosti nohy ve vztahu k jejich funkci, popsat patologické změny a současně popsat pohlavní, vývojové, funkční a populačními rozdíly za pomocí bioarcheologické analýzy kostry nohy. V rámci práce byly zkoumány skelety nohy u 99 jedinců, kteří byli nalezeni během archeologicko-antropologického výzkumu v Přibicích během let 2018-2021. Celkem bylo zkoumáno 97 hrobových situací, kdy u hrobu H9 a H97 byly zkoumáni jedinci dva. Kostra každé nohy obsahuje 26 kostí. Každý zdravý jedinec tak má celkem 52 kostí nohy. Ze vzorku Přibic se zachovalo 31,37 % kostí nohou, tedy 1615 kostí, které byly v této práci podrobeny analýze. V rámci analýzy bylo na základě měření, výpočtů a detailního vizuálního zkoumání určeno pohlaví, anatomické variety a patologické jevy. Analýzou získané výsledky byly porovnány s dvěma historickými populacemi.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the leg skeleton in a group of Anabaptists from Přibice in relation to its function. The foot, as an organ found only in primates, provides the important function of mediating contact with the ground on which we move. The leg skeleton of the Anabaptists from Přibice became the subject of research due to their way of life, which showed a high degree of work load, where it is assumed that the above-mentioned is to some extent reflected on the leg skeleton and its functional properties. This work aims to describe and analyze the bones of the foot in relation to their function, to describe pathological changes and at the same time to describe sex, developmental, functional and population differences using a bioarchaeological analysis of the foot skeleton. As part of the work, the leg skeletons of 99 individuals found during archaeological-anthropological research in Přibice during 2018-2021 were examined. A total of 97 grave situations were examined, with two individuals examined at graves H9 and H97. The skeleton of each leg contains 26 bones. Each healthy individual has a total of 52 leg bones. Of the Přibice sample, 31.37% of the foot bones, i.e. 1615 bones, were preserved and analysed in this work. The analysis was based on measurements, calculations and detailed visual examination to determine sex, anatomical variations and pathological phenomena. The results obtained from the analysis were compared with two historical populations.
