Emotional intelligence and self-efficacy in relation to work engagement

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and work engagement. The main goal is to clarify the theory of these constructs and to analyze the relationship between these three concepts and to assess possible differences in age, working years, gender, education and profession. The theoretical part deals with the definition of these concepts and their relationship based on the current knowledge. The research part is devoted to individual research involving adult workers (N = 203), in the age range of 19-58 years, with the vast majority being 30 years old. A modified version of the Emotional Assessment Scale (AES-41) was used to measure emotional intelligence, the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) was used to measure self-efficacy, and the Work & Well-being Survey (UWES-17) was used to assess the level of work engagement. The research confirms the interrelationship between the three constructs and the possible conditionality of work engagement by emotional intelligence and self-efficacy, pointing out possible differences in gender, education and profession.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá vzájomným vzťahom emocionálnej inteligencie, self-efficacy a pracovnej angažovanosti. Hlavným cieľom je teoretické ozrejmenie daných konštruktov a analyzovanie vzťahu medzi týmito tromi konceptmi a posúdenie možných rozdielov v rámci veku, odpracovaných rokov, pohlavia, vzdelania a profesijnej oblasti. Teoretická časť sa venuje vymedzeniu týchto konceptov a ich vzájomného vzťahu na základe doterajších poznatkov. Výskumná časť je venovaná vlastnému výskumu, ktorého účastníkmi boli dospelí pracujúci (N = 203), vo vekovom rozmedzí 19-58 rokov, pričom prevažná časť sa pohybovala vo veku 30 rokov. K zisťovaniu úrovne emocionálnej inteligencie bola použitá modifikovaná verzia Škály hodnotenia emócií (AES-41), k zisťovaniu úrovne self-efficacy bol použitý Dotazník všeobecnej vlastnej efektivity (GSE), a k zisťovaniu úrovne pracovnej angažovanosti bol použitý Dotazník osobnej a pracovnej pohody (UWES-17). Výskum potvrdzuje vzájomný vzťah týchto troch konštruktov a možnú podmienečnosť pracovnej angažovanosti emocionálnou inteligenciou a self-efficacy, pričom poukázal na možné rozdiely v rámci pohlavia, vzdelania a profesie.
