The figure of Peter Pan, body or spirit?

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on topic of Gnosticism in the novel Peter Pan. Peter Pan is considered even to this date as the fairytale, which is mainly aimed at children and teenagers. The goal of this work is to explore and explain hidden symbols of Gnosticism and show how Gnosticism influenced not only the author, but his work as well. I will also analyze the theme of imagination and it's importance in our world. This thesis should show, that the book is no fairytale, but is a brilliantly coded message, that Mr. Barrie left us in his novel.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem gnosticismu v knize Petra Pana. Petr Pan je dodnes považováno za pohádku, která je určená především pro děti a dospívající. Cílem této práce je prozkoumat a vysvětlit skryté symboly gnosticismu a ukázat jak gnosticismus ovlivnil nejen autora, ale i jeho dílo. Dále zanalyzuji téma představivosti a její důležitosti v dnešním světě. Práce by měla osvětlit, že kniha není žádnou pohádkou, ale geniálně zakódovanou zprávu, kterou nám pan Barrie ve svém díle zanechal.
