Abstract:

Dizertační práce se zabývá studiem keramických artefaktů. Propojením keramické petrografie a XRF analýzy přispívá k řešení výzkumných otázek týkajících se minulých společností. Výsledkem je metodika kalibrace analýzy složení keramiky. Pro stolní ED-XRF byla vyvinuta kalibrační knihovna a pro ruční spektrometry byl představen software "Calibration Master". Práce též předkládá návod k statistickému vyhodnocení pomocí software R. V práci uvedená metodika byla uplatněna v různých případových studiích, které poskytly vhled do středověkých trhů, či rozmanitých tradic výroby keramiky a socio-ekonomické dynamiky v různých regionech a obdobích. Spojení keramické petrografie s XRF se ukázalo jako účinný nástroj pro řešení socio-ekonomických aspektů lidské minulosti studiem historické keramiky.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to deepen the understanding of integration of ceramic petrography and XRF analysis in studying ceramic artefacts and addressing past societies' socio-economic questions. ED-XRF spectrometers' calibration standards typically do not match with the ceramic matrix. To address this mismatch, a specialized library for tabletop ED-XRF spectrometers was developed, and the 'Calibration Master' software was introduced for hand-held devices to ensure accurate matrix calibration. The study also provides a guide for statistical evaluations using the R software. The methodologies were applied in case studies, revealing insights into early medieval markets, diverse ceramic production traditions, and socio-economic dynamics across various regions and eras. In essence, combining ceramic petrography with XRF has showcased its efficacy in decoding the socio-economic aspects of historical ceramics.
