Anotácia:

Hlavním cílem této práce je přiblížit čtenáři Sněmovnou lordů parlamentu Spojeného království a informovat jej o její historii, roli v zákonodárném sboru, vývoji a reformách, předložit některé rozporuplné názory veřejnosti na dané téma a zamyšlení nad nimi, a vybavit čtenáře dostatečnými fakty, aby byl schopný si s jistotou vytvářet názory ohledně otázek týkajících se Sněmovny lordů ve veřejné debatě a v univerzitním prostředí.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the House of Lords of the Parliament of United Kingdom, and inform on its history, role in legislature, the changes and reforms, explain Peerage titles and structure, and present some conflicting public opinions on the topic and scrutinize them and equip the reader with sufficient facts to be able to discernibly form opinions on the possible issues relating to the House of Lords in a public debate and in a university setting.
