Remediation of the “magic lantern” principles at the New Stage of the National Theatre within period defined by Stepan Kubistas directorship

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se budu zabývat remediací inscenačních principů Laterny magiky na Nové scéně Národního divadla v době vymezené působením Štěpána Kubišty na pozici ředitele (2010 – 2014). Nejprve představím vize Štěpána Kubišty a cíle, jejichž realizaci si stanovil při nástupu do funkce ředitele Nové scény a dále popíši, jak pod jeho vedením Nová scéna a Laterna magika fungovala. Ve spojitosti s Novou scénou uvedu vybrané projekty doprovodného programu (Divadlo 3000, konference MutaMorphosis atd.)a samozřejmě také příklady akcí mimo hlavní scénu (piazzeta, kavárna NONA apod.) v rámci realizace projektu „revitalizace Nové scény“. V části věnované inscenacím, které byly uvedeny od roku 1959 – 2009 a premiérám, jež byly od roku 2010 na repertoáru Laterny magiky, se zaměřím na remediaci jejích inscenačních principů. Hlavním cílem mé práce bude zhodnocení, zda a jak se zdařila v letech 2010 – 2014 transformace Nové scény v moderní multimediální divadlo a zároveň i ve významné kulturní centrum, které poskytuje prostor nejen novým scénickým projektům, ale řadě dalších aktivit, překračujících hranice tradičních uměleckých druhů, teorie a praxe, interiéru budovy a veřejného prostoru. V závěru práce bude věnován prostor Štěpánu Kubištovi a jeho zhodnocení čtyřletého působení na pozici ředitele Nové scény.

Abstract:

In my work I examine the remediation of staging principles of the Lantern magic at the New Stage of the National Theatre at a scheduled action Stepan Kubista as director (2010-2014). First I introduce the vision and objectives, whose realization a set when he took office director of the New Stage and a description of how under his leadership the New Stage and Lantern magic work. In conjunction with the New Stage will present selected projects accompanying program (Theatre 3000, conference MutaMorphosis etc.) and, of course, examples of events outside of the main stage (piazzeta, cafe NONA, etc.) within the project "Revitalization of the New Stage". In the section devoted to productions that have been listed since 1959 - 2009 and premieres, which since 2010 has been in the repertoire of the Lantern magic, will focus on the remediation of its staging principles. The main objective of my work will be to evaluate whether and how a success in the years 2010 - 2014 transformation of the New Stage in modern multimedia theater and also a significant cultural center that provides space not only for new scenic projects, but many other activities going beyond the boundaries of traditional artistic types, theory and practice, the building's interior and public space. At the end of the work will be dedicated space Stepan Kubista and his four-year tenure evaluation of the position of director of the New Stage.
