A self-portrait - a game with the reflections of one´s own appearance

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem mé bakalářské práce je deformovaný autoportrét. Je zvláštní tím, že deformace nevytvářím subjektivně, ale pomocí objektivně pozorované reality, pozorováním své tváře v odrazech na různě tvarovaných lesklých předmětech. Výsledek pak pečlivou kresbou přenáším na papír. Vytvořila jsem cyklus kreslených autoportrétů, pokaždé s jinou deformací. Těmi dokazuji, že autoportrét neznamená vždy přesnou kopii vzhledu autora. V teoretické části mě zajímaly způsoby deformace v tvorbě různých umělců, zrcadlo jako běžný předmět, ale i jako symbol ve výtvarném umění, portrét, autoportrét a umělecký směr hyperrealismus. Nakonec jsem svoji práci srovnávala se zmiňovanými umělci a směry.

Abstract:

The main theme of my bachelor thesis is deformed self-portrait. It is special in that I do not create deformations subjectively but by objectively observed reality. By watching my face in the reflections on shiny objects of various shapes. Then I transfer the result on paper by careful drawing. I created a cycle of drawn self-portraits, each with a different deformation. I prove with them that the self-portrait is not always an exact copy of the authors appearance. In theoretical part I was interested in the ways of deformation in the work of various artists, in the mirror as an ordinary object but also as a symbol in fine arts, in a portrait, self-portrait and art movement hyperrealism. Finally, I compared my work with mentioned artists and art movements.
