Changes in personality of patient with chronic pain treated with strong opioids

Abstract:

Cílem algeziologické léčby je nejen snížení bolesti, ale i zachování určité úrovně kvality života. U velmi těžkých bolestí lze tento léčebný cíl dosáhnout silnými opioidy. V naší práci jsme se zaměřili na sledování vlivu silných opioidů na kognitivní výkon, emotivitu a kvalitu života. 22 ambulantních pacientů s chronickou bolestí jsme sledovali před nasazením léčby a pak v průběhu krátkých období, po dvou týdnech, po měsíci, třech a šesti měsících, po nasazení medikace s cílem získat dynamiku působení silných opioidů na sledované proměnné. Po kvantitavní analýze jsme zjistili zlepšení kognitivního výkonu v mnestických funkcích a částečně v pozornosti. Silné opioidy pomáhají snižovat depresivní a anxiózní ladění, snižují symptomatiku s rámci psychiatrického spektra. Získali jsme zajímavé výsledky zlepšení spokojenosti v některých oblastech života.

Abstract:

The object of algeziological treatment is to not only decrease the intensity of pain but to help in maintaining an acceptable level of quality of life. The therapeutic aim was to treat intense pain with strong opioids. We were interested in monitoring the impact of strong opiods on cognitive functions, affectivity and quality of life. Twenty two patients with intense pain were observed before using opioid medication, then later in two weeks, then one month later, three months later and six months later with the purpose of understanding the dynamics of strong opioids and their influence on observed mental variables. After quantitative analysis we found an improvement in some variables as they relate to mnestics functions and partially in attention. Strong opioids help decrease depression and anxiety and help to decrease the symptomology of the psychiatric spectrum. We elicited some interesting results in the improvement of some areas of life satisfaction.
