Problems of single mothers returning to the labour market after parental leave

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou návratu matek samoživitelek na trh práce po rodičovské dovolené. Cílem práce je zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „S jakými bariérami se potýkají matky samoživitelky při návratu na trh práce po rodičovské dovolené z pohledu matek samoživitelek?" Diplomová práce se skládá ze tří částí. V teoretické části jsou charakterizovány proměny rodiny v čase, definice samoživitelství, postavení matek samoživitelek na trhu práce a také bariéry se kterými se matky samoživitelky potýkají při návratu na trh práce. Dále jsem se také věnovala faktorům, které mají vliv na návrat matek samoživitelek na trh práce po rodičovské dovolené. Druhá část práce popisuje metodologii výzkumu, vysvětluje, proč byl zvolen kvalitativní výzkum, dále také jaká byla zvolena technika sběru dat, výzkumný vzorek a v závěru diskutuje etické otázky a možné limity výzkumu. Třetí část je empirická a věnuje se analýze získaných dat. V závěrečné části práce jsou poté shrnuty získané poznatky výzkumu a nastíněny možná řešení problémů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the problematic of single mothers returning to work after maternity leave. Goal is to answer the main question: „What are the barriers that single mothers face when returning to work after parental leave?" This thesis consists of three parts. The theoretical part characterizes the changes in family, definition of being single parent, position of single mothers in the labour market and barriers which single mothers face when returning to the labour market. Furthermore, I also addressed the factors that have an impact on single mothers returning to work after parental leave. The second part describes the research methodology, explaining why qualitative research was chosen, as well as what technique for data collection has been chosen, research sample and finally discusses ethical issues and possible limitations of the study. The third part is empirical and is devoted to analysis of collected data. The final part then summarizes the findings of research and outlines possible solutions to problems.
