Zimbardo's concept of Heroism as an Escape from the Comfort zone compared with Heidegger's concept of Autentic Being

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá konfrontací Heideggerova pojetí autentického a modu bytí s koncepcí hrdinství jako útěku z komfortní zóny. Filosofický základ práce tvoří Heideggerovo dílo Bytí a čas, psychologickou opozici tvoří psychologická praxe prof. Philipa Zimbarda, kterou čerpám z jeho díla Lucifer's Effect. Zimbardo se jakožto sociální psycholog zabývá zkoumáním, proč jsou k sobě lidé lhostejní a zlí. Výsledky svých výzkumů poté využívá ke studiím hrdinství, díky němuž dokáží být naopak lidé soucitní. Tato práce se zabývá hledáním příčin tohoto zla a hrdinství prostřednictvím Heideggerovy fundamentální ontologie, a odpovědi jsou hledány právě mezi ontologickými příčinami na základě interpretace modu bytí. Cílem této diplomové práce je prozkoumat, zda je příčinou zla ve světě neautentický modus bytí, který tíhne k upadávání v každodenní modus bytí neurčitého "ono se", a zda je autenticita bytí totéž, co Zimbardo nazývá hrdinství a k čemu došel z druhé strany - ze strany psychologie.

Abstract:

This work consists of the confrontation of Heidegger's concept of an authentic mode of being and the concept of heroism as an escape from the comfort zone. The philosophical basis of this thesis is underpinned by the work Heidegger's Being and Time. Psychological opposition consists of psychological practice of prof. Philip Zimbardo and his work Lucifer's Effect. Zimbardo, as a social psychologist, explores why people are indifferent and evil to each other. Results this research are afterwards used by him in his studies of heroism,which makes people to be compassionate. This thesis is trying to find causes of this evil and heroism, through Heidegger's fundamental ontology, and answers are sought between ontological causes and this search is based on the interpretation of mode of being. The aim of this thesis is to explore whether the main cause of evil in the world is inauthentic mode of being, which tends to decline in mode of everydayness, and whether the authenticity of being is the same as what Zimbardo called heroism and what he explored from the other side - form the side of psychology.
