Inflation targeting in Central Europe

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou vývoje inflace v České republice, Polsku a Maďarsku mezi lety 2009 a 2019. Cílem práce je zhodnotit úspěšnost cílování centrálních bank ve vybraných zemích. Konkrétně zhodnotit úspěšnost v dosahování inflačních cílů a vyhodnotit, která země byla ve sledovaném období v cílování inflace nejúspěšnější. Za uplynulých deset let prošly ekonomiky nelehkým vývojem, který silně ovlivnil i vývoj inflace. Největší dopad měla světová finanční a hospodářská krize, jejíž důsledky přetrvávaly v ekonomikách ještě dalších pár let. Jelikož jsou nejčastějšími příčinami odchylek od inflačního cíle vnější faktory a v současnosti se ocitáme v další, i když naprosto odlišné krizi, je zhodnocení dosavadního působení procesu cílování inflace velice aktuální, poněvadž je možné se z minulého vývoje vyvarovat případných chyb.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of inflation targeting in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary between 2009 and 2019. This thesis aims to evaluate the success of central bank targeting in selected countries. Specifically, evaluate the success in achieving inflation targets and decide which country was the most successful in targeting inflation in the period under review. Over the past ten years, economies have undergone difficult developments, which have strongly influenced inflation. The biggest impact had the global financial and economic crisis, the consequences of which persisted in the economies for another few years. The most common causes of deviations from the inflation target are external factors. We are currently finding ourselves in another, although a completely different crisis, an evaluation of the current impact of the inflation targeting process is very topical since we can learn from past mistakes.
