Self-regulation in context of antisocial behavior among late adolescents

Abstract:

Ústředním tématem předložené diplomové práce je seberegulace v kontextu antisociálního chování v pozdní adolescenci, což je oblast, která není v českém prostředí zatím dostatečně zpracována. Cílem této práce je zmapovat mechanismy sociální a akademické seberegulace, prozkoumat projevy a míru antisociálního chování a popsat vzájemné vztahy mezi nimi se zaměřením na jedince v období pozdní adolescence. Dílčím cílem je také zjištění případných genderových rozdílů v seberegulaci a v projevech antisociálního chování. Pro účely této práce bylo realizováno dotazníkové šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 206 osob ve věku 17-19 let. Bylo zjištěno, že užívání mechanismů sociální seberegulace je genderově vyrovnané, v oblasti akademické seberegulace však byly objeveny signifikantní genderové rozdíly. Také byly prokázány genderové rozdíly v oblasti projevů antisociálního chování. Výsledky rovněž ukázaly, že existuje korelační vztah mezi mechanismy sociální a akademické seberegulace a antisociálním chováním. Interpretace a limity výzkumu jsou uvedeny v diskuzi na konci práce.

Abstract:

The central topic of this diploma thesis is self-regulation in the context of antisocial behaviour in late adolescence; it is not a widely explored (mapped, reseached) area in the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to explore the mechanisms of social and academic self-regulation, to research manifestation and extent of antisocial behaviour and to describe their mutual relation in late adolescents. Another objective is to find eventual differences in self-regulation and antisocial behaviour display between genders. A survey has been made for the purposes of this thesis, completed by 206 people in the age between 17-19. It has been discovered that the use of social self-regulation mechanisms does not vary between genders; by academic self-regulation, however, there were significant gender differences. The study also found gender differences in antisocial behaviour manifestations. The survey has also shown a correlation between social and academic self-regulation mechanisms and antisocial behaviour. Interpretation(s) as well as the limits of the research are included in the discussion at the end of the thesis.
