Abstract:

Tématem disertační práce je německé svobodné zednářství v meziválečném Československu prezentované Velikou Lóží Lessing zu den drei Ringen. Hlavním cílem je představit základní rysy organizace, její vznik a vývoj. Rozvoj německých zednářských spolků nastal po roce 1870 a až do konce monarchie fungovaly jako tzv. zednářské kroužky. Po roce 1918 došlo k jejich transformaci v řádné lóže. Práce se dále věnuje vybraným tématům jako vztahu VL Lessing k Československu, edukativní činnosti jednotlivých spolků, sociální struktuře a charitativní činnosti a také byla provedena sonda do vnitřního života některých spolků. Hlavním úkolem tedy bylo pokusit se zcelit roztříštěný pohled na VL Lessing jako na fungující organizaci, která měla svůj postupný vývoj. Zásadním cílem bylo postihnout proměny, kterými tato část německého zednářstva procházela jak v období monarchie, tak zejména v meziválečném Československu. Pod vlivem soudobé německé odborné literatury jsem zpracoval čtyři dílčí přístupy reflektující určitý jev. Prvním je vztah ke státu a jeho institucím. Meziválečné Československo ponechalo zednářství z pohledu legislativy nerušený průběh, navíc tu byl specifický rys a to osobnost prezidenta Tomáše G. Masaryka, který se těšil všeobecnému respektu i mezi zednáři. Spíše mě zajímalo, zda členové VL Lessing nějak artikulovali svou pozici ve státě a vztah k němu jako reprezentanti německého obyvatelstva. Na to navazuje druhý pohled reflektující osvětovou a sebe-prezentační činnost. Jaké materiály mohl mít k dispozici běžný člen? Jaká byla témata zednářských diskuzí? Byly tyto materiály z produkce vlastních členů, nebo se jednalo o přejímání z jiných prostřední, a pokud ano, tak z jakých? Z důvodů pouze úzce profilovaných pramenů zůstalo zpracování sociální struktury lóží na pozici sondy do reprezentativního vzorku. Zde je užitečný komparativní pohled na německé a české zednářstvo, které se rekrutovalo z odlišných sociálních poměrů. Logicky návazným tématem jsou podpůrné a charitativní aktivity spolků, které mnohdy tvořily významnou náplň činnosti konkrétní organizace. Formu sondy jsem zvolil i v případě analýzy vnitřního života tří zednářských spolků z Prahy, Karlových Varů a Žatce. Zde se ukázalo jako plodné srovnání období v monarchii a později v republice.

Abstract:

The topic of the dissertation is German Freemasonry in Interwar Czechoslovakia presented by the Great Lodge Lessing zu den drei Ringen. The main goal is to present the basic features of the organization, its origin and development. The development of German Masonic associations took place after 1870 and until the end of the monarchy they functioned as so-called Masonic circles. After 1918, they were transformed into a proper lodge. The work also deals with selected topics such as the relationship of GL Lessing to Czechoslovakia, educational activities of individual associations, social structure and charitable activities, and a probe was also conducted into the inner life of some associations. The main task was to try to consolidate the fragmented view of GL Lessing as a functioning organization, which had its gradual development. I tried to capture the fundamental changes that this part of German Masonry went through both during the monarchy and especially in interwar Czechoslovakia. Under the influence of contemporary German professional literature, I tried four partial approaches reflecting a certain phenomenon. The first is the relationship to the state and its institutions. Interwar Czechoslovakia left Masonry undisturbed from the point of view of legislation, moreover, there was a specific feature, namely the personality of President Tomáš G. Masaryk, who enjoyed general respect, including Masonry. I was rather interested in whether the members of GL Lessing somehow articulated their position in the state and their relationship to it as representatives of the German population. This is followed by a second view reflecting educational and self-presentation activities. What materials could an ordinary member have available? What were the topics of the Masonic discussions? Were these materials from the production of their own members, or were they taken over from other media, and if so, from which ones? Due to only narrowly profiled sources, the processing of the social structure of the lodges remained only as a probe into a representative sample. Here is a useful comparative view of German and Czech Masonry, which was recruited from different social conditions. A logically related topic is the support and charitable activities of associations, which often formed a significant part of the activities of a particular organization. I chose the form of the probe also in the case of the analysis of the inner life of three Masonic associations from Prague, Karlovy Vary and Žatec. Here it proved to be a fruitful comparison of the period in the monarchy and later in the republic.
