Satisfaction of Teachers of a Specific Secondary School with Selected Job Satisfaction Factors

Abstract:

Tématem mé práce je pracovní spokojenost učitelů vybrané střední školy. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, zda jsou učitelé spokojeni s aspekty vybraných vnějších faktorů pracovní spokojenosti. Pracovní spokojenost je jednou z podmínek efektivního využití pracovního potenciálu zaměstnanců, je vyjádřením kvality vztahu mezi organizací a jednotlivcem, v mnoha směrech ovlivňuje chování jednotlivce a má vliv i na jeho celkovou životní spokojenost. Pracovní spokojenost je ovlivňována celou řadou faktorů. Ve své práci se zabývám šesti vybranými vnějšími faktory (finanční hodnocení/odměňování a úroveň péče o zaměstnance, druh a charakter vykonávané práce, pracovní postup a pracovní perspektivy, způsob vedení, sociální prostředí a pracovní skupina, fyzikální podmínky práce). Pro zodpovězení hlavní výzkumné otázky jsem zvolila techniku polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. V rámci výzkumu jsem provedla rozhovor s deseti učiteli vybrané střední školy. V empirické části sesbíraná data analyzuji podle jednotlivých dílčích výzkumných otázek. Výsledky přinášejí zjištění, že učitelé nejsou spokojeni s finančním ohodnocením a s nabídkou nefinančních benefitů. Většina učitelů není spokojena se způsobem vedení a přístupem ředitele školy. V hodnocení spokojenosti s druhem a charakterem vykonávané práce se učitelé liší. Všichni však souhlasí s tím, že jejich práce je psychicky náročná a že za ni nesou vysokou míru zodpovědnosti, významná většina z nich pociťuje smysluplnost vykonávané práce. Spokojenost s příležitostmi k rozvoji kariéry a s podporou vedení při zvyšování kvalifikace byla přibližně stejně častá jako nespokojenost s tímto aspektem. Většina učitelů není spokojena s celkovou atmosférou ve škole, vztahy s kolegy jsou hodnoceny jako různorodé, v zásadě s nimi však učitelé jsou spokojeni. Téměř všichni učitelé jsou spokojeni s fyzickým prostředím a vybaveností školy.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with job satisfaction of teachers in a selected secondary school. It aims to find out whether teachers are satisfied with the aspects of selected external job satisfaction factors. Job satisfaction is one of the prerequisites for the efficient use of the work potential of employees, it represents the quality of the relationship between an organization and an individual and in many ways affects the behaviour of the individual and his or hers overall satisfaction in life. Job satisfaction is influenced by a series of factors. This thesis deals with six selected external factors (financial evaluation/remuneration and the level of employee care, type and nature of work, career growth and perspective, leadership, social environment and working group, physical working conditions). The semi-structured interview technique was used for answering the main research question. Ten teachers of the selected secondary school were interviewed for the research. The empirical part analyses the collected data according to the individual research questions. The results show that teachers are not satisfied with the financial valuation and non-financial benefits offered. Most teachers are not satisfied with the method of management and the approach of the school’s Principle. Teachers differ in the evaluation of satisfaction and nature of the work performed. All agree, however, that their work is mentally demanding and that it carries a high degree of responsibility and a significant majority of them feel that the work performed is meaningful. Satisfaction with opportunities for career development and leadership support during continuing qualification was approximately equal to the dissatisfaction in this aspect. Most teachers are not satisfied with the overall atmosphere in the school; relationships with colleagues were evaluated as varied, however the teachers are generally satisfied with them. Almost all the teachers are satisfied with the physical environment and amenities of the school.
